Fundamental Risk Management Strategies
Correspondence
Through the use of case studies and the Introduction to Risk Management text, this seminar offers a brief but comprehensive overview of the risk management process. This program is designed to provide a basic understanding of what risk managers do, how they do it, and why risk management is important. It is ideal if you specialize in personal lines or small to medium-sized commercial risks and wish to learn how to apply risk management principles to these risks.

Objectives:
  • An overview of the risk management process
  • The language of risk management – terms and ideas commonly used by risk managers
  • A systematic approach to the analysis and treatment of loss exposures
  • How risk management fits into organizational structures
  • How risk management objectives serve to support a wide range of organizational settings
  • The risk management function as a collaborative process

The Introduction to Risk Management Program is a self-study program. The text, separated into six segments, lends itself particularly well to a series of seminars or classes. IBAO encourages large offices to co-ordinate groups of employees to study in this method as many individuals enjoy the feedback they receive from a group setting.

The exam for the Introduction to Risk Management may be scheduled when the student is ready. The exam dates are identical to those for the CAIB Program (May, July and December each year). You will earn a Certificate of Completion from the Insurance Institute of America upon passing the exam.

Recommended For: Personal Lines Brokers/Commercial Brokers handling small to medium sized accounts

RIBO Accreditation: 12 Technical Hours

Cost:    $229.00 – members only (includes exam fee)

Note: The IBAO is pleased to present an in class option for the Fundamental Risk Management Strategies program. Classes will be held at the IBAO School of Insurance. See On-site course section for details.
