Creating a Best Practice For the Renewal Process of Mid-size Commercial Accounts
Based on many years of servicing commercial accounts, Ted Gammon will share his thoughts and experience on what can be accomplished in working with commercial clients by using a detailed agenda. A model agenda will provide you with a guideline as to the order of topics:
- Questions to be asked
- Renewal information to be stated and requested
- Special policy conditions to be reviewed
- Risk management issues
- Coverage not in place
- Value added services required
- Insurance industry issues affecting the client
- Client referrals
- Evaluation of broker services
Included in the day’s discussion will be guidelines on the preparation and distribution of the agenda and how to use the information gathered from it in dealing with existing insurers and potential new insurers.
Objectives:
- Use of an agenda as a relationship building tool
- Build better understanding of coverages required for both client and broker
- Understand key policy conditions that are always present but often not reviewed
- Use a template to build your own customized discussion/topic agenda
- Incorporate an agenda as a “best practice” benchmark, especially when there are account executive changes

- Commercial Insurance Department Managers
- Account Executives and Account Managers responsible for renewing mid-market accounts
